THE MAGIC OF COLORED PENCIL

Date: Sunday, March 17 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This one-day workshop will explore color and its application through the versatile medium of colored pencils. We will learn to control value and intensity using various methods to achieve different ends -- from a colored pencil “drawing” to a colored pencil “painting.” We will also explore how choice of paper affects the finished product. During the second half of the class, we will complete a small artwork based on personal choices made after experiencing different techniques on different papers.
For teachers in attendance, there will be some tips and techniques for teaching color in the classroom and .3 CEU’s are available.

Materials to bring or buy, all available at The Depo:

  • A set of at least 24 art quality pencils (such as Prismacolor, Faber Castell Polychromos, Faber Castell Goldfaber, Caran d’Ache, etc)

  • A 2H pencil

  • A kneaded eraser

  • Prismacolor pencils, one each: Black Grape (PC996) and French Grey 90% (PC1076).

Tuition includes papers, solvent, brushes and a variety of blenders.

Please register as soon as you plan on attending. Classes that don't reach the minimum number of students required will be canceled 48 hours before the first day of class. Last minute registrations are accepted if class minimum is met and space allows.
