Instructor: Mary Jane Erard
Ages: Adults + Mature Teens (serious kids as young as 10 are welcome to attend)
Date: Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm
Skill level: All

Come in for a fun pastel workshop! You’ll create a beautiful piece to take home while learning new skills. All materials will be provided except one 9x12 sheet of sanded pastel paper (available for $4.00). No experience is required and absolute beginners are welcome! This is a great opportunity for teens through adults to learn the basics of working with soft pastels. Mary Jane is a master pastelist and this workshop is appropriate for anyone regardless of artistic skill level or prior experience.

Mary Jane will provide an overview of how to blend pastels to achieve desired results, how to select colors for under-painting and explain the various "harnesses of pastels." After students are comfortable with using their pastels, she will then demonstrate and instruct students step by step to create the flower and forest pastel painting shown in the promotional photo.  All materials will be provided, but if you have any soft pastels we encourage students to bring them so MJ can instruct how to best use the tools you already have in your studio.
