This workshop is a special offering for previous encaustic students of Christine’s with extra materials for student use donated for class use by the amazing folks at R&F Paints. In this workshop, students will be able to work on a much larger surface, either an 8x10” or a 10x10” surface to create an image of their choosing, or an artwork inspired by Christine’s sample paintings she will bring along to class. Students will have access to use 11 additional R&F Artist Quality Encaustic colors in class, as well as receive a free pigment stick, R&F Color Chart, and R&F Basic Encaustic Manual to take home. If you’d like to create an image of your choosing, please bring along a color copy of the image for reference. Students will also have an additional hour of work time than a regular class. Please select your choice of an 8x10" surface or 10x10" surface when checking out.
As we will be working with hot wax, students are advised to wear old clothes and closed toed shoes, and to leave any precious or hard to clean jewelry at home.

About our Instructor:
Perrysburg resident Christine Deemer has found her passion in the encaustic medium. After moving to Perrysburg in 2014, she has been welcomed into the area arts community with open arms receiving accolades, awards, gallery showings, teaching opportunities, and more. Her talent and ambition to continue learning and exploring new mediums beyond her advanced degrees have combined to make her current work in encaustics an artistic sensation. After painting in hyper-realism for the past 5 years she was introduced to the encaustic medium by Toledo area artist Kathryn Housepian. She connected immediately and set up a home studio to pursue the medium. The medium gave way to her applying her multifaceted talent to creating dimensional seascapes so realistic the paintings become a visceral experience. Speaking of encaustic, she states, "hot wax reminds me of clay with its ability to be molded and carved. Working with a liquid that quickly becomes a solid is also exciting".
