Saturday, July 8th, 10:30am - 4:30pm
Instructor: Jenny Schu
Ages: Adults & Mature Teens
Experience: Some experience needed (Details below!)

Jenny Schu of Lansing, Michigan was one of the artist's featured in BG's Fall 2016 LOOP SWOOP + PULL fiber arts exhibit.  This summer she returns to our Bowling Green shop to offer her second class with us - Russian Leaf Stitching.

The Russian leaf stitch is useful as an element in many different kinds of jewelry and art pieces.  Jenny uses this technique in many of her jewelry pieces and also in her larger leaf panels, combined with other stitched and fiber designs.

In this his one day class, students will learn how to do the diagonal peyote stitch to create an open leaf for earrings, or as accents for other works you may have in mind.

Materials provided for this class include 1-2 colors of beads, thread, needle and the earwires for the earrings.  Students are welcome to bring their own bead stash.  Optional items students are welcome to bring: writing utensil, scissors, and bead mat or tray. (Students do not need to bring anything though, they may borrow or buy from the instructor!)

Students should already have knowledge of peyote stitch either from having taken a previous class with Jenny or through other instruction. This is a difficult stitch where stitching direction is a key component that will be practiced in this class.  If you have questions about experience level, please feel free to contact Jenny.

Jenny will be bringing along a bit of her personal bead stash, so if you have an interest in purchasing baubles past the supply provided for class you should bring a lil' cash along!

Please register as soon as you plan on attending. Classes that don't reach the minimum number of students required will be canceled 48 hours before the first day of class. Last minute registrations are accepted if class minimum is met and space allows.
