Henna, or mehndi, is a form of body art from Ancient India, in which decorative designs are created on a person's body using a paste created from the powdered dry leaves of the henna plant. The henna temporarily dyes the skin, and will come off gradually over he course of 1-3 weeks (two weeks on average) depending on skin type. Ancient in origin, mehndi is still a popular form of body art among the women of the Indian Subcontinent, Africa and the Middle East.

In this workshop, students will use an all natural, organic henna mixture and simple designs provided by the instructor to explore this beautiful ancient art form and create designs on their hand. All materials will be provided, and students will get a copy of the recipe to make their own Henna at home. Please make sure students wear “art studio clothing” and shoes to this workshop.

This class will be preceded by “Intro to Macrame” workshop on the same day. A special discount is available to families who register two or more students per class, or one student taking both the morning and the afternoon class in the same day. Intro to Macrame and Henna are $25.00 each or take both for $40.00. If you’d like to register students for the morning and afternoon combo deal, register them through the Intro to Macrame workshop page, here:
